Video Art Miden collaborates with this year’s edition of FONLAD festival of video art & performance, Portugal, presenting a Greek video art program, entitled “If you ever get close to a human”.

The program, curated by Gioula & Olga Papadopoulou, presents 5 video art works by Greek creators selected from the last edition of Video Art Miden, combining different forms and genres of contemporary video art. Xanthippi Papadopoulou & Panos Boudouroglou present a video dance piece depicting a claustrophobic and disturbing “prêt a porter”. Kristian Xypolias creates a symbolic short film, taking us to a post-apocalyptic world, where men compete for the last bottle of water on earth. Anastasia Lamprou in a double action explores and symbolically draws the limits of the physical and mental space through sound, rhythm and a movement neurotic and hypnotic at the same time. Makis Kyriakopoulos, taking inspiration from biology, uses a digital morphogenesis as a method, where new forms replace the former ones through the logic of optimization, via an open system of states of constant interaction. The human figure vanishes in nature reflecting it and gradually absorbed by it. The interaction of human action and nature is also a core theme of the work by Eleni Magklara, Stelios Papiemidoglou & Efi Roufagala. The central idea of the video is the human imprint on Earth and the evolution of audiovisual media used to record humans’ achievements -but at the same time the adverse impact of their imprint on the planet. The title of the selection is borrowed from Bjork’s song “Human behavior”.
